The Secret To Getting The Most From Your Revision Time

Revision is the necessary evil of exam preparation. Without it you’ll sink quicker than an anchor lobbed overboard; with it you’ll feel organised and prepared – and we all know which one we’d rather be.

If you’re going to get the most from your revision time you need a plan of action. Think about what subjects you need to study for and how much time you have to dedicate to revision.

You need to ensure you:

  • Set aside revision time for each of your subjects and stick to those time slots.
  • Dedicate yourself to revising the subject you have planned to revise in that slot and don’t get distracted by other subjects. It's important to not study too many subjects at once or you will lose focus.
  • Plan to take regular breaks to give your brain a chance to recharge. This will allow you to process all the information you’re taking in.
  • Use a revision calendar to identify the subjects you need to revise for, and the topics and even sub-topics in each subject. This will give you a much clearer view of the priority of what you need to revise.

Planning and strategising how you are going to use your revision time is the key to making the most of that time.
